No Need for Marriage

To wed or not to marry? That is the doubt. It ne’er previously was the inquiry. It was ‘When to marry?’ not ‘why to marry’. For ages young ladies were expected and put pressure on themselves to find a mate young, hook up and start up home with nippers and a dog, and devotethe rest of their lives to organising a well run house. Perhaps because females have been liberated from what were once their traditional roles, that a marriage ceremony is no longer of importance and without doubt not the only route to venture down. In Actually many people- both men and women- positively detest the idea of marriage, and can’t conceive of gazing into a lover’s face and promising without compromise to spend the rest of their days with them until someone dies. In many ways it’s sad, because weddings can be such joyful occassions especially when they feature a lovely wedding robe and sky lanterns. But, ill-fated marriages can be devastating, financially and emotionally wasteful, and the most isolating things ever. Though being in a poor partnership is also incredibly isolating, somehow with the marriage tag, it’s even worse. FriendsWork colleagues expect more of a couple when they are officially married and have also spent so much dosh on their wedding day. They are supposed to be happy or to at least try their damndest to be so. As a result of this detected external pressure, many partners feel they have to put on a face and cover their true feelings. The reason why there used to be a greater amount marriages or why marriages lasted a few generations ago is because couples had no choice but to keep battling on with their relationship. This is advantageous in some ways, but in others, it is very wasteful. Yes there were a greater amount of wedlocks, but there were also many more desperately wretched ones.
